You are currently viewing Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge with Qi Wireless Charging built-in

For the first time, Samsung is going to offer smartphones with Qi built-in. Both, the Samsung Galaxy S6 as well as the Galaxy S6 edge have Qi integrated and can be charged wirelessly with the appropriate Qi charging stations. The new flagships were unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The company also announced that it will work with the Swedish furniture maker IKEA on in-home wireless-charging technology for smart devices. “This is a perfect match for the Galaxy S6 and its groundbreaking wireless technology, compatible with any wireless pad in the market, including the new furniture from Ikea. Through this, Samsung and Ikea are helping consumers live a more comfortable life at home”, Samsung said.

In this regard, other smartphone, accessories and furniture manufacturers could follow the example of Samsung and IKEA and support Qi as well. Qi is already supported by many devices and manufacturers (for an overview of Qi-ready devices, please click here) and it seems that the Qi standard becomes more and more established.
